My name is
Logan, I was born with gastroschisis. I was born at 36 weeks, after 6
days of labor for my mommy. When I was born with purple intestines on the
outside of my belly. They took me straight to surgery right after my
wonderful arrival. 2 hours later my doctor came into the surgery waiting
room to tell my parents, and grandparents that she put all of my
intestines back in to my belly in hopes that they would soften up and
start working.
But 7 weeks later I went back into surgery for have the bad intestines cut
away and the good intestines sewed back together. This left me with 64 cm.
of small intestines. I lived on TPN for 10 months before I was put on a
liver transplant list. I've been in the hospital more than I've been
home. So on July 31,2002 I was flown to Delaware were I received my new
liver.
While I was in for the transplant, the doctors tool that he using to cut
my old liver out with, burnt holes in my intestines where there was a line
of staples from the other surgery that I had. So this left me with a 8"
across, 3" deep open abdomen for 6 weeks until they could go back in and
reconnect.
I couldn't handle another surgery until that 6 weeks were up or I wouldn't
have made it. So after 3 months in the huge state of Delaware Me and my
Mom were able to return home to Indiana. I stayed in the hospital there
for a few days before finally I got to go home to my 2 brother, 1 sissy,
my daddy and lots of other people who loved and missed me. I have been
back and forth from the hospital about 20 times since October.
I have a central line and a tube in my nose (NG tube) to feed me because
I am 2 years old and have never caught on to the eating thing. I have
Speech therapy, Occupational & Physical Therapy to help me catch on to
things. I am doing great but every time they try to get me off of the TPN
I lose a lot of weight and get dehydrated.
I am still struggling but I know God has a reason for me being here and I
intend to find out what it is. I am friends with Stormy who is also a
part of this web site, We go to the same hospital together and usually at
the same time. I am a really strong little boy and if you would like to
check my pictures out or to read a day to day story of what I've been
through you can log on to my web page at
