We want to thank everyone that said a prayer for us during hurricane Charley and Frances.
We have posted pictures for you to see.
Although we rode out the storms we did have some damage. Most of the visible damage is with the trees and plants in the yard. That is ok and no problem except it will take us some time to clean it up and looks bad. When you see the pictures you will think we live in a forest.

The worst part is with the house. It is still livable but the wind shook the water pipes and now we have water leaks. Here in Florida most of the homes, like ours, were built with all the plumbing in the attic. The wind blowing through the attic vibrated the pipes, and they now leak, and will have to be replaced. Right now it looks like it will cost about 20 to 25 thousand dollars to repair everything that needs to be repaired, and put our house back in shape. The cost could be more, but that is our first estimate.

No, we did not have insurance. The cost of hurricane insurance was so high that we, like most of the other disabled people, could not afford it and now must make other arrangements.

We have checked with the Government agencies and they let us know that we were not high on the list and it would be quite a while before they could talk to us. So much for our Taxes at work. FPL, our electric company, done a great job in getting our power back and the lines replaced. Sprint was able to keep the phone system going most of the time so we had a phone and no one to talk to. We were only without phones for about 5 days.

We are now doing the only thing we know to do, we are asking you for help for us. We have tried to help others with SBS, and now we need the help. Check http://www.noguts.com and order something you can use and help us at the same time.

Take a look at the pictures we have posted and you will see that our yard is a mess and is going to take time just to clean it up. We have about four trees down and Jim is trying to cut them up to be hauled away. Our storage shed is destroyed and will have to be torn down. The roof is gone, one of the trees fell on it, and everything in it is destroyed. The real problem cannot be seen as it is with the pipes in our attic. Wind does funny things. When it was blowing through the attic, and the pipes were vibrating, it sounded like the house was coming apart.

There are more pictures to come. The page's with the pictures will open in a new window. Just close the window to return here.
